The first day of the DSL conference started with a few plenary talks in the main auditorium...

There was enough time during the break before the afternoon session began, for me to change into my jeans and flats and hop on the Metro and hunt for 31 Rue Cambon...

Saya datang ke Paris dengan harapan menggunung. Disappointed to tell you that all my hopes of a classic chanel has been dashed. One would think it would be easier to purchase a Chanel in Paris, but that couldn't be more further from the truth especially in the summer season where you have throngs of tourist and visitors all wanting a slice of the allure that is Chanel. But then again I already have the black timeless classic and the black 2.55 reissue; if you were wanting those then yes you wouldn't be disappointed. As I said, the permanent classic lines are very limited in colour. And to be honest there were some really lovely 2.55 reissues with gold hardware in the new colours available like bordeaux and khaki, but that was not what I was looking for. I wanted a timeless classic caviar jumbo with silver hardware. The beige was out of stock throughout Paris, not surprising considering that it is the perfect bag for summer. If I had come in winter I am sure that there would be an excess of beige around instead of black...And sebenarnya dalam sudut hati macam rugi je beli a jumbo beige especially when there was one already available for me to use if I wanted to albeit in gold hardware...So I was hoping that there would be some jumbo flaps in lambskin. But alas, it is not what Chanel is offering this particular season which is all about the reissue...And as for the shopping totes, they were all sold out as well which was hardly surprising considering that they were not included in the latest price increase...So tak ada lah rezeki untuk merembat Chanel pada kali ini. Nevermind, perhaps next time...

But of course, I brought a souvenir home with me ;D...

From Paris with Love

Alhamdulillah I reached Paris on Sunday safely and without much incident.

We arrived at Concorde La Fayette Hotel around 8am. Check in time was only after 3 so we left our baggage and set off on foot into the heart of Paris.

Ahhh...the Parisian summer ambience...very chic and romantic; much like how I remembered it...

I love the green trees along the avenues...

Masa tangkap the previous pic, it looked really washed out and overexposed. Kononnya adjust la shutter speed and ISO and took the pic above. Ermmm...Which one is better?

I think I prefer the first one.

BTW, the hot car in front of the hotel has a Qatar plate number; not surprised at all!

Being a Sunday, 90% of the shops were closed.

Of course you can find all the major fashion designer boutiques here but these two are my faves.

Stopped here to refuel, considering we had already been walking for about 4-5 hours...

Not bad laaaa considering it was a huge bulky dslr.

I think I have got the hang of taking spy pics using a dslr.

All you do is sling it messenger style across your body with the camera turned on and click away!!!

I'm packed and ready. My flight tonight is at 2335. Since tonight ada match Germany Vs Argentina, I've decided to let Mr Hubs stay in and I'm just going to take the cab to the airport. ONLY for World Cup Yang! Kalau tak, jangan harap hehehe...

So I'll be going to Paris first for the conference 5th to 7th July, then heading to London on Thursday 8th for a couple of days. My flight back to KL insyaallah will be on Saturday night, 10th and arriving on Sunday 11th July. Oh ya, I just got to know that since end of last year, flights to KLIA will be departing from Heathrow Terminal 4. Padahal, berangan nak tengok kot2 ada apa2 yang boleh dirembat window shop kat Chanel and Hermes, Terminal 3. The price is really good since tak ada VAT. Darn! Heran juga, MAS tak cukup otai ke nak lepak kat Terminal 3 macam jiran kita SIA? *pertanyaan kepada rakanku seorang MAS staff, you know who you are...
Ah well...win some, lose some.


On a different note, over the past couple of years I'm slightly nervous of long haul journeys. Banyak sangat tengok Air Crash Investigation la ni...

Also, it doesn't help that my family did not have such a pleasant inbound journey on the way back from UK recently. They experienced very bad turbulence about 90% of the flight! During the meals water and beverages were flying all over the place. It was like a nightmare rollercoaster ride I was told! I hate flights like that, which I have experienced in the past, but only on the last leg of the journey, typically over the Bay of Bengal.

What's more, on their outbound flight, apparently the captain announced that one engine had failed 30 minutes before landing, and they were flying on three engines only. WHAT??? *cuak*

Sorry for the morbid note, but we have to beringat that we never know when our time will come. Ya allah Ya Tuhanku, selamatkanlah perjalananku pergi dan balik, amin...
