Sirap Bandung Soda Nostalgia

Sebenarnya dah beberapa kali nak selitkan entry yang ni tapi selalu tak menjadi sebab take it for granted hehehe. Tapi kali ni terpanggil jugak nak berkongsi resipi minuman special kegemaran saya yang dinamakan Air Sirap Bandung Soda Nostalgia.

Upon request, this drink has been made on the two occasions my whole family got together for iftar at mum's this ramadhan.


You know sometimes there are certain foods that bring back childhood memories. It has to be a certain familiar taste that tickles the taste buds and ignites a nostalgia. I absolutely love the Anton Ego nostalgia scene from the movie Ratatouille, I thought they did an excellent job at translating the emotion.




Air sirap bandung soda ini saya adaptasi daripada resepi nenek saya belah bapa ~ my Tok Mok. Actually I only got to taste my Tok Mok's sirap bandung on a very few special occasions when I was very young (maybe less than 10 years old) when my uncles got married! I guess this drink was very rarely made because of its relatively expensive ingredients and so no one remembered to ask how to make it. Tapi sebab terlalu sedap I never forgot how it tasted. And for many years I was growing up, I never found any other sirap bandung soda that quite matched the taste of my grandmothers sirap bandung.

Sampailah satu ketika saya balik from UK for summer holidays, saya sempat bertanya macam mana nak buat sirap bandung Tok Mok. Sambil tersenyum dia cuma kata "kena letak susu dan soda sama banyak. Tak perlu tambah air, cuma tambah ais".

This drink can be made at any time, but it is more special when made in bulk and shared with family, friends and guests. For my elder sister's wedding, sirap bandung soda was served for the guests. What the caterer made was sufficient, however it was not sirap bandung soda Tok Mok style. This drink was so special to me such that I personally made it so that it could be served at my wedding. At least for the main table hehehe. (Pengsan la pengantin nak bancuh untuk semua orang hahaha). Wedding adik baru2 ni tak buat sebab tak ada any special request and because yours truly had a million other things to do hehehe.

Jalan2 di blog saya terjumpa resipi sirap bandung soda di blog Mat Gebu credit tu Puan Zura. Melihat kepada resipi tersebut, ya, memang sedap kot kerana susu dan soda sama banyak serta ais digunakan untuk mencairkan sirap bandung. Tapi resepi saya lagi sedap, boleh macam tu? hehehe

Air Sirap Bandung Soda
Bahan-bahan:
(Resipi ini untuk 15 orang. Nak buat sikit pun boleh, adjust quantity accordingly, but the recipe below will give you the exact taste. If it is too sweet for your liking, then cairkan dengan air/ais tambahan.)

2 kampit ais beli dekat 7Eleven
2 botol besar ais cream soda F&N
8 tin susu sejat (any jenama but not susu pekat!). Note that this combination will give the correct 1:1 ratio of soda and milk.
3 tin Sirap Ros F&N (ukur guna tin susu kosong)
1 sudu besar essen vanilla
3/4 sudu besar garam

Cara penyediaan:
Masukkan ais di dalam bekas yang sesuai, diikuti dengan semua bahan yang lain. Kacau rata dan hidang setelah ais mencair.

Tips:
Yang paling penting adalah untuk memasukkan susu dahulu sebelum soda. Jika soda dimasukkan diikuti susu, anda akan mendapati susu akan menggentel dan akan membentuk lapisan terpisah daripada soda ~ it will never mix.


Ada on one occasion minum sirap bandung at someone's wedding. Hubs kata sedap gila, saya rasa memang sedap, tapi tak sesedap saya punya heh :P So to each their own. I'm sure everyone has their own nostalgic food. For me and my elder sister this sirap bandung is very special indeed because it is our personal nostalgic drink. My younger siblings who have never tasted my Tok Mok's sirap bandung have grown to love it and perhaps this will become their own personal favourite. Cuba lah, and judge for yourself ;D

ahhhh sirap bandung is also a specialty turun temurun from my grand-dad! OOooOOooO such memories. I pun nak cakap pasal bandung gaks. Nanti I link to your blog boleh?

i first minum sirap bandung soda dekat kunang2 in gombak.. i tot dorang saja jer buat air tu, but i dengan husband macam ketagih everytime ke siti memang tak nak air lain dah hehe... rupa2 nya memang ia turun temurun, kiranya resepi orang lama, patut la sedap kan hehe..

owh.. haros la try sirap bandong tok mok? how's tok mok btw?... suda sgt laaammaaa x jumpe even when i was in KL. bapak aku pun cakap mmg susu ngan soda tu kena sama banyak n x yah tambah air, but i guess the esen vanilla that make the kick?...

I got this recipe from a friend just las week. I pun pelek jugak bila dia ckp letak garam..but then x try lagi pun. Mesti sedap ni..

Wah.. walapun nampak macam air bandung biasa, tp macam2 dalam resepi tu ye.

Verde, you all ada sweet tooth tak? Kalau ye, perggghhhh happening minum sirap bandung soda with your family! Kalau ada helium balloons sekali lagi syiok haha.

Hanum, Tok Mok dari physical nampak ok tapi dia dah mula lupa2...ye kot essen vanilla tu yang buat kick. Tapi aku perasan selalu caterer will not always keep to the 1:1 ratio cos mahal la beb buat air ni especially for wedding, cost tinggi. Sedap je, tapi aku ngada2 suka yg original tok mok style hehe. Very the unhealthy one!

Hohoho mJ in tht case cuba try buat hehe. Kalau just for the two of you, cuba guna 2 tin susu sejat and 2 tin ice cream soda. Also, I tak suka guna sirap ros jenama lain.

TK, tu lah, maybe the salt brings out the flavour kan. Tapi kalau ikut resepi ni it will taste quite sweet, but can always
dilute with water/ice. Insyaallah sedap hehe.

eheemmmm..sebagai org johor yg berasal dr muo di mana resepi sirap bandung ini berasal..saya mengaku bahawa saya amat menyukainya sejak azali n looking fwd to minum in every kenduri kahwin helds there tapi...........saya mmg x tau nk buat langsung :( dan JM Briani di KL adalah penyelamat bila tekak ni terasa nk minum tu cos pada i, sana tu da best sgt n JM tu pun org muar. btw since u da share resipi ni....harus cuba, n tks fr sharing babe. i bet mesti power ni ;)

sirap f&N tin susu kecik ke besar yg regular size tukan?
why add salt ye?

Erma, tin regular saiz kecik tu tau, bukan yang besar bagak tu. If I'm not mistaken you don't like sweet things too much, takpe, nanti boleh cairkan to your liking. I rasa salt brings out all the flavours ;)
